What animals (and zoos) do you have a lot of Knowledge of?

It's good to know the right person to ask..

I specialise in Chester zoo, Pheasants, Hornbills, Storks, BoPs and Parrots.

I wouldn't say I have a definate speciality, but in terms of knowledge I'd say Chester Zoo, but I have much, much more to learn about the place. However, in the 3 months i've been on this forum, I've learnt more than i had done previously, so long may that continue! ;)

Auckland Zoo... Better on the history side of it...

i dont have bucket loads of it, but id like to think i know a lot about Chester and possibly London aswell.

Me... Menagerie du Jardin des Plantes, especially for reptiles and birds
Zooparc de Beauval for birds
and Vogelpark Walsrode for all the little tropical birds

Walsrode doesn't specialise in only small birds and not just tropicals. They specialise in all kinds of birds.

I myself am I great liker of birds and ungulates, mainly antelopes ,and also of crocodiles and small predators (small felines ,fennecs and such).
I'm not sure what I have most knowlegde on though.

Considering zoos ,I think I know most about antwerp zoo and planckendael (the ones I've visited most).

I think that Pedro was saying that his speciality was is all the little birds at Walsrode, However he does know an awful lot. Thanks Pedro for what you have taught me!

Thanks Everyone! I love this forum!

Fort Wayne Children's Zoo. I've visited lots of other North American zoos, many more than once. I specialize in kangaroos--worked with them for 21 years, though I learn more each day. I'll try to put some of my zoo photos up soon.

As Jonathan said (thanks for your post), we talk about speciality, and my "Walsrode speciality" is smaller tropical species... I've been in this park more than 5 times and each time spent time talking with the directors and curators who are good friends of mine now (especially the general curator).

Marwell, London & Whipsnade (esp. history), UK zoo history generally, Perth Zoo in the mid to late 70s, I am a biologist by trade (though not a zoo professional) so know a fair amount about most species....:)

My specialty is mainly mammals and danish zoos, but I also now some about birds and crocodiles and mostly other european zoos.

I would also say I have a good deal of knowledge about the history of London and Whipsnade Zoos...

Sorry for going off-topic, but Toddy did you recieve my whipsnade review?

I would say i specialise in Belfast Zoo cause I work there, small mammals, lemurs and hoofstock- tapirs inparticular! I look after them and other antelope as well as black footd cats and several lemur species. I have also worked training sealions.

I would say that my specialities is hornbills, pheasants, partridges, hornbills and Bird of Paradise.

I have also spend 4 years studying Cercopithecus l'hoesti in the wild and 2 years in captivity so I would say I became an expert on this species studying it for 6 years.

Gorillas... + other primates, rhinos, most mammals generally, some birds, also history of UK zoos.
