Species only found at one zoo or aquarium in Canada?

What species in Canada are only held by one institution? One example I can name would be West Caucasian Turs at Toronto Zoo (Edmonton Valley Zoo did have them, but they past away). As @TheGerenuk mentioned, it also hold Chamois, which are the only ones in North America, let alone Canada.

Don't forget that Toronto isn't just the only chamois holder in Canada, but the only holder in North America too.

Also, giant pandas (and possibly Siberian musk deer) in Calgary, Pacific white-sided dolphin and sea otter at Vancouver Aquarium, and echidnas in Toronto as well.

Edmonton Valley Zoo also holds the only Mongoose Lemurs in Canada

Calgary is the only holder of Whooping Crane, Sage Grouse, and should be the only holder of African Pygmy Goose and hottentot Teal in Canada.

Assiniboine Park is the only holder of Eurasian Crane and saddle Billed stork.

Toronto also holds the only Pygmy Hippo, Babirusa, Aldabra Tortoise, Wombat, Orangutan, Great Pied Hornbill, Wrinkled Hornbill, Tomistoma, and more.

Bird Kingdom is the only holder of several species, including Great Argus, Collared Finchbill, Blue and yellow tanager, blue breasted kingfisher, red crested turaco, and more.

African lion safari holds the only Blue Throated Macaws, Monk Vultures, Yellow Headed Vultures, King Vultures, and I believe Chaco Owls and Ural Owls in Canada.

Marineland holds the only beluga whales and grey seal in Canada.

Hmm, let's see:
Japanese Serow
Granby Zoo has some.
Granby Zoo
Green Sea Turtle
Ripley's Aquarium also has green sea turtles.
Toronto Zoo
Mouflon
Lion Tailed Macaque
High Park Zoo has mouflons, but they may be wild sheep, assuming they are seperate species. Lion-tailed macaques are also kept at Brantford Twin Valley Zoo, Greenview Avaries Park & Zoo, and Jungle Cat World if I remember correctly.

I knew there would be some errors. I just meandered through the websites. Some are better at listing animals than others. Some have pretty good lists while others it would be basically easier to visit and create your own list. I forgot to look up Ripley's and Bird Kingdom. They had been on my mind and then just slipped it. Any of the much smaller ones I missed I didn't even think about. I'm positive if we went to every zoo in Canada we could get more and delete more.

  • Killman Zoo is the only zoo (accredited or not) in Canada that (as far as we know) holds Celebes Crested Macaque (Macaca nigra), having a single male named Bongo.
  • Bear Creek Exotic Animal Sanctuary has a single male Green Monkey (Chlorocebus sabaeus).
  • Story Book Farm Primate Sanctuary only facility in Canada to have White-Capped Capuchins (Cebus), three male Crab-eating Macaques (Macaca fascicularis), and two female Rhesus Macaques (Macaca mulatta)
  • Fauna Foundation is the only facility to have Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes)
  • Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien - Geladas

Nope. Brantford has one as well, and I think one or two other small collections as well.

Nope. There's also a holder in British Columbia of the Capuchin. Additionally, both species of Macaques have fairly sizable live research populations present in Canada as well.

I have a nagging suspicion there is at least one more Celebes Macaque in Canada as well, I just can't quite put my finger on where.

Sorry if I’m late to the game here but I also think that Toronto is the only Zoo in Canada to hold Pygmy hippos.
