Its fairly agreed upon here that many american zoos do not feature very good South American sections. In particular we wondered about spectacled bears.Does any Zoo have a good exhibit for this species?Out of the many zoos we have visited not one really stands out for this bear.

We had heard that the National Zoo had a good one ,however it was closed on our visit and the area was completely blocked off.

Lincoln Park's is ok I guess

The Racine Zoo has a nice exhibit for spectacled bears. It includes a rocky area with a waterfall, grassy hills, and a big tree for climbing. It only seems about an average-size habitat, though. You can view the exhibit through a glass window or from a wooden deck at one end of the exhibit. I believe coatis used to be mixed in with the bear as well, but not anymore.

In the United States perhaps Phoenix has one of the better spectacled bear enclosures but there aren't that many great ones. The world's best spectacled bear exhibit is found at Zurich Zoo in Switzerland, and that establishment is actually one of two European collections that I've ever visited (in 2003). Here is a photo of the outstanding habitat that the bears share with coatis:
