Chester Zoo spectacled bears at Chester.

The enclosure can be divided if required.

They may do that but I think male Specs aren't particularly aggressive and once the cub(s) are well grown they might want to display a 'family' group. Depends on how things pan out for them.. Jumping the gun a bit here though as cubs not even born yet...;)

Spectacled Bears

I still haven't seen one of the bears at Chester yet! and i've been trying to see one since they arrived! The enclosure is really well set out though, i'm sure the bears would prefer to be in hiding then have screaming kids shoutig at them, would be nice to see one once in a while though!

you have to get the timing right. Best bet is early on or close to closing time (or the talks...)

You still havent seen one, i cant believe that! I've managed to see one pretty much on all my visits since their arrival

Going anti-clockwise round the zoo I usually arrive at the bear enclosure around midday I think, and never see them at that time. Once I've gone round the rest of the zoo I go back to the bears (around 5 o'clock) and often see one of them strolling around.

I think early or late is the best time to see many of the shyer, more retiring species...
