Chester Zoo Spring fever at Chester

I was at the zoo on Friday and noticed a distinct hint of spring in the air.. hornbill pairs feeding grapes to one another, pigeons nesting in the tropical house, displaying condors, choughs carrying twigs, and a nice big egg under one of the Eurasian black vultures. Even the flamingos were unusually vocal.

The baby rhino is growing up nicely, the baby orang is lovely, and Mum's doing a great job (even if she did steal one of the other youngsters' blankie..), the servals have settled in nicely, the cheetahs were all in one enclosure playing, and the elephants get stroppy if you make the mistake of turning up in the elephant house late in the day wearing a green fleece when they're expecting a bread treat and to be let into the main section for dinner!
