hey guys I found this video on youtube of the springhare exhibit at houston zoo. can anyone tell me what the little chipmunk like squirrels are running around in there? I thought at first they were an African species as the springhare and the guineafowl are in there but then an armadillo walked across the screen lol so they could be from anywhere! anybody any other interesting info on this exhibit. I do like springhares they are amazing!

The narrator says in the video that they're Harris's Antelope Squirrels (Ammospermophilus harrisii) which are native to the southwestern US and part of Mexico.

It's a pretty interesting mix of animals; the narrator lists guineafowl, armadillo, hornbill, hyrax and a leopard tortoise. I'm impressed that it seems to work so well.

Nice to see a video from this particular exhibit, as it is the model for the desert exhibit at Skansen-Akvariet, Stockholm. Those exhibits have big similaritys and the anthelope ground squirrels which lives at Skansen-Akvariet came from Houston Zoo.

woops i should have watched the video with the sound on!! :) they are nice little squirrels! Thanks!
