I guess many of you have already seen the review of this place in "Snowleopard's 2024 Road Trip: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia," so I just wanted to share a few extra details and give an update on the species I saw.
This private zoo was founded by a wealthy businessman who made his fortune from crocodile farming. He has a deep love for animals and a passion for keeping 100 lions and tigers, which ultimately led him to create this zoo. It’s located in Ayutthaya Province, north of Bangkok, about 1.5 to 2 hours by car from Bangkok (approximately 100 km).
This medium-sized zoo, covering around 10 hectares (25 acres), is packed with over 100 species of animals. Some of the enclosures are pretty old-school, with concrete floors, metal bars, and spaces that feel too small, while others are newer and look a bit nicer. Overall, though, I wasn’t particularly impressed with the exhibits.
The zoo is home to several rare species, including what appears to be all species of douc langurs — possibly the only place outside Vietnam where you can see them all. This impressive collection, however, does raise questions about how some of these rare animals were obtained.
Here’s a list of the animals I saw. Sorry I didn’t manage to note all the birds and reptiles.
