According to their Instagram, a handful of butterflies were displaced and are helped being cared by the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House nearby, but most have been recovered and are safe.

Saint Louis Zoo on Instagram: "Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by this afternoon’s storms. Here at the Zoo, we were very fortunate to not have any significant injuries to people or animals. We’re still assessing all the damage and clean-up efforts are underway and will continue tomorrow. The most significant damage was caused by downed trees throughout the Zoo. Several trees and limbs fell across guest paths, fences and on a Zoo event tent. Trees also caused considerable damage to the roof of the Mary Ann Lee Butterfly Wing. Thankfully, Zoo staff were able to act quickly and recover the majority of the butterflies. We are grateful to our friends at the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House who are helping us by caring for the displaced butterflies. We are incredibly proud of how Zoo staff responded during the storm. They truly stepped up today. Staff brought guests into buildings and office areas to keep them protected. They activated emergency training Zoo-wide to make sure all animals were safe and accounted for. The Zoo will remain closed on Saturday, May 17 while cleanup continues. We will make a decision by 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 17 about whether Make Tracks Through the Zoo will take place Sunday, May 18. @butterflyhousestl @mobotgarden"

On June 9th, the zoo announced they acquired a new leafcutter ant colony which is now on display in the Bayer Insectarium.

2 Rhinoceros Hornbills have hatched.
Saint Louis Zoo on Instagram: "This Father's Day, we’re celebrating one of nature’s devoted dads: the rhinoceros hornbill! Two fuzzy hornbill chicks hatched in the Bird House in February. During nesting and the chicks' first months, the female relies entirely on the male for food. In the wild, she seals herself in a tree cavity using mud and other materials to incubate the eggs for several weeks. Meanwhile, the male is on delivery duty! He gathers food to feed his family through a hole in the seal. Here at the Zoo, we use a barrel in place of a tree, but this species relies on the health of rainforests in Southeast Asia to nest in the wild. Once the female leaves the nest, both parents feed the chicks until the chicks fledge at about 80 days old. The chicks—pictured here after fledging, but before developing the species’ signature horn—can be seen in the public habitats of the Bird House now. Happy Father's Day from all of us at the Saint Louis Zoo!"
 
On June 27th, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (0.1) cinereous vulture named Natasha to The Buffalo Zoo in New York.

They are for: Two-Toed Sloth and Prehensile Tailed Porcupine! I didn’t see either in the exhibit but it was cool to see that it’s open again.

On July 3rd, the zoo officially announced they opened the Hoffman's two-toed sloth/prehensile-tailed porcupine exhibit, while emphasizing that both species will be moved to the new Destination Discovery, once the area opens in 2026.

I was thinking of taking a trip to St. Louis to see the zoo’s Soemmerring’s Gazelles and other hoofstock this fall. Will the zoo remain committed to keeping the gazelles in their collection or will the new renovations make a lot of species go away permanently? Also I saw in an old Youtube vid that visitors can go into the antelope house. Can you still go inside or only during cold weather when the hoofstock has to stay indoors?

Which renovations are you concerned about getting rid of gazelles? I'm not familiar with renovations to that area right now.

At the time of my visit in September 2023, the Antelope House was closed. I asked around here if anyone knew if it opened part-time and nobody seemed able to confirm.
