Updates from my 10/26/2025 visit (I apologize for getting out of the habit of posting these. I will try to be more consistent to keep the community updated about changes at the zoo):
-The American flamingos have been moved inside.
-The Cypress swamp aviary was closed.
-The small aviary on the Bird Garden Trail is now closed. Based on precedent, this will probably be the case until next spring.
-The toco toucans and bateleur eagle are no longer on exhibit outside. The red legged seriemas have access to both those exhibits now. I cannot speak to whether either of those species are on exhibit in the Bird House now as I did not make it in there this visit.
-There seems to be some major construction in the former puma exhibit. The fencing is removed and they seem to be building additional climbing opportunities and an elevated shelter. The entrance from this side of Big Cat Country is blocked off as a result.
-The former African rock python exhibit on the Herpetarium lower level is replaced by Guatemalan beaded lizard.
-100 flower rat snake has been replaced by rough-scaled python.
-The Sambava tomato frog and Henkel's leaf-tailed gecko exhibit by the Lake Titicaca frogs is now occupied by Andean marsupial frog. Henkel's leaf tailed geckos are now in the exhibit formerly occupied by Andean marsupial frog, but the tomato frogs are no longer on exhibit in the Herpetarium at all.
-The North American desert mixed exhibit is now only occupied by one new species, the Mexican beaded lizard.
-Caspian cobra is off exhibit. Signage indicates it will be back.
-Mexican lance-headed rattlesnake has replaced Arizona ridge-nosed rattlesnake.
-there is a new black breasted leaf turtle exhibit in the previously unoccupied exhibit near the Mexican alligator lizards. The exhibit contains a fog feature. The preexisting exhibit for this species is still there as well.
-The large exhibits on either side of what is now the Komodo dragon solarium are both occupied now- to the right by reticulated python, and to the left by African rock python.
