Stereotypical Species

Lol for real, like, why ya'll even at the zoo? I hear African wild dogs get called "hyenas" a lot.
For some reason, I've seen so many people call so many things what they choose to believe they are, and not look at their signs in front of their nose. There is exceptions with younger kids, but adults that look like there in their 30s or 40s, told their kids, "the orangutan is the largest monkey in the world", at the coulombs zoo.

Unless a person is educated about animals, 100% of the time, when people are mentioned the animal “peacock” they automatically think of the male Indian Peafowl. Green, Congo, and maybe even female Indian peafowl are not really thought of when people hear the word “peacock”.

Does anyone know what the stereotypical species of Orangutan is because for me it’s the Bornean species
Honestly, I hear most people refer to them as orangutans. My dad loves orangutans but I've never heard him acknowledge different species. The same can be said with animals like giraffes people don't realize there are actually different species and assume that they are just "giraffes"

Indeed! Which is probaly also the case for zebras, pelicans and flamingos.
For me a stereotypical species of owl would be the snowy owl or is that just me?
