Any body know much about the current size of the group at chester and if there is any current breeding happening atm

Any body know much about the current size of the group at chester and if there is any current breeding happening atm

There is an adult male (Puluh), two adult females (Emma and Subis), and four offspring (Budi, Utara, Indah and Kirana). So far as I know they're still in a breeding situation, Emma and Subis tend to have young around a similar time every 2-3 years or so.

Budi = Male
Utara = Female
Indah = Female [?]
Kirana = Female

No problem... Both Subis and Emma have older off-spring who have left Chester..
Jambi (F) who went to Budapest Zoo in 2007 and Padang(M), went to Prague Zoo last year..

Chester have bred 11 Sumatran Orang Utans.

Just to clarify then:

Puluh the current adult male is the father of Budi (7), Utara (7), Indah(3) & Kirana (2) via Emma & Subis - firstly - who is the mother in each case?

secondly - Oscar is the father of both Emma & Subis - was that at Chester Zoo since they were born here a year apart? and who were their mothers?


and thirdly - Jambi & Padang are Emma & Subis's offspring (who birthed whom?) and who was their father? was it Puluh as well ?

Ramona is the mother of both Subis and Emma, they were hand reared.

Puluh is the father to all ..

that's great thanks - I'm getting a much clearer picture now of the Sumatrans at Chester. So where is Oscar now?

Both Oscar and Puluh are now grandparents yes - so that's 3 generations - that's great stuff from Chester.

How does this compare to Orangs held by other collections do you know?
