Breeding of Bornean Orang Utans was purposely halted while ROTRA was under construction. Now that it is finished and there are two males, I'm sure it will not be long before baby Borneans can be seen. Don't know if the gibbons are a breeding pair though. Does anyone else?
Another thing, on my last few visits I've noticed that the gibbons and orangs seem to have been kept seperate. (Gibbons in the last indoor area, Orangs in the middle one, nothing in the first one) Any reason for this seperation, or have I just seen them at bad times?
I may have just caught them just after feeding time though, as the keepers do seperate them due to the diets...
Chester Lar Gibbons are as you say a pair and their 2 male offspring, they came from Chessington were i believe all 3 males had the snip so breeding is out of the question,as far as i understand they got them to gain experience with a none endangered species of Gibbon before getting something a bit more intresting. The gibbons are a breeding pair and their two sons.
