Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden Sumatran Rhinos at Cincinnati Zoo

I just thought I would add a few photos I took last fall to illustrate the exhibit area and one of the rhinos (I am not sure which one is pictured here):

1. What used to live in these rockwalled enclosures before the Sumatran rhinos came to Cincinnati?

2. What % of the outsides do the overhead awnings provide shade over?

3. Is there any further news on plans to try and(somehow) breed from Suci?

I was just re-watching the programme and Nigel definatley stated there was two calves 'Emi' gave birth to. The next shot was of Emi and one calf at 8 months, though he said in the voice over that both calves were doing well. Really confused here.

Either the programme has incorrect info, or you have maybe misinterpreted it...

Emi had three successful births(as listed above) after five(?) failed pregnancies. at the time the programme was made she had probably had only two of them.

If so it probably showed the 2nd calf Suci at 8 months old. If the voiceover said 'both calves' were doing well it presumably also referred to the previous, older one 'Andalas' -although technically he wasn't a calf any more by then.

She certainly did not have twins.

I heard a rumor that Harapan may be going from White Oak to Lowry Park. I don't know if this is true, but that's what I heard......
