I noticed quite a while ago that on google maps, there is a small summary under the name of each zoo when you click on it. And today I decided to have a look at a random selection of zoos and see how they are summarised on google maps.

Just to take a random sample:

London Zoo: Gorillas, giraffes, penguins & tigers
Chester Zoo: Large zoopark with colourful gardens
Berlin Zoo: Huge leafy zoo with modern aviary
Tierpark Berlin: Zoo with elephants, tigers & monkeys
Bronx Zoo: Large urban zoo
Toronto Zoo: Sprawling home of thousands of animals
Warsaw Zoo: Elephants, wolves, lions & hippos
Taronga Zoo: Large zoo divided into different regions
Antwerp Zoo: Animal park established in 1843
etc, etc. I could go on all day.

So I was wondering if anyone knew what the summaries were based on, who makes them etc. It seems almost random to me.

And if you look to the left side there's a slightly longer discreption

London-Major city zoo and research centre helping to conserve numerous species in naturalistic habitats. - Google

Chester-Zoo featuring rare and endangered species in lush, ornate gardens, with a water bus and a monorail. - Google

Bronx-Metropolitan zoo with 265 acres that harbors 4,000 animals in replicas of their native habitats. - Google

San diego safari park-Visitor tours of a 1,800-acre wildlife sanctuary with over 300 species of African & Asian animals. - Google

etc...

If you haven't noticed there's a bit of a common theme on who's giving the description.
