For those who live in the Dallas area, there's going to be a new amusement park of sorts opening soon. Summer Adventures in Fair Park will open on May 4, 2013. It's $30 for adults and $25 for kids and old folks. For that price, you can ride all the Midway rides. It also includes free admission to the Dallas Aquarium, Butterfly Gardens, and Swan Boats. Entertainment comes in the form of a miniature golf course, bird show, a parade, a marionette puppet show by John Hardman, a steel drum band, two other music bands, a stiltwalker, a dog show, a bike show, a lego construction zone, and a giant sandbox.

I can't wait for this to open. I'll finally be able to ride the Midway attractions without having to spend five bucks per ride. If you've ever gone to the State Fair of Texas, you know what I'm talking about.

I spend most of my time at the Livestock section of the fair. Their petting zoo is great. Not too many places where you can touch and pet a zebra, white buffalo, and antelope. The only other place I spend much time in is the Arts and Crafts Building.

yeah the Texas state fair is interesting. Other than the Cotton Bowl (which is now at Jerry World) the only thing truly unique about it (different than other state fairs that is) is the size (everything bigger in texas) and the unique food vendors.

I love Texas and like many have said, Texas culture while unique is very similar to our culture here in Alabama. My mother is a spanish teacher so we have always grew up with that influence in our lives. Lots of hispanics in Alabama as well. I can see why the Russian who sees the US break into pieces puts Alabama Louisiana Arkansas and Mississippi with you guys.

Alabama and Texas are way more culturally similar than many realize.
