The first national assessment of the damage wrought by the unprecedented summer bushfires on native animals finds there is likely to be a dramatic increase in the number of species facing extinction.

I personally believe as a country we need to talk with Aboriginal people and with their help participate in traditional fire burning practices. This would not only prevent these sorts of devastating fires from occurring, but would also help many species of wildlife by creating more habitat.

Not too sure about that. The country has completely changed in the past couple of hundred years, and in developed areas conditions are very different now. That is not to suggest that there are not parts of this country where the old methods would not be practicable, and probably beneficial. Often making money is considered to be more important than preserving natural conditions!!
