Just got back from the zoo with a little news so I thought I'd start a new thread

Macaques arriving next week have been told 2 different amounts either 4 or 6 these will be kept in the Primate house that has just had the one side strengthened as the other side was strengthened before and is still strong enough to hold the Macaques.

Meerkats born on the 15/07/2010 there were 5 not 4 and these are doing fine.

Giraffes new females still being sort

Snow Leopard - female still being sort if no female sort then male will be released to another zoo and a breeding pair will be brought in to replace him.

New entrance now open to the Red Necked Wallaby Walk Through

The great plated lizard as been removed from the reptile house and put in the discovery centre.

The Otter enclosure is now very near completion.

Asiatic Lions are looking very friendly these days

A few photos added to the gallery some of the animals missing or have not been in the gallery before

Yes they have Sulawesi Macaques and the new arrivals are the same just recieved e-mail from a friend who works there and there will be 4 first and then another 2 to arrive later

I have spoken to someone who went to the zoo on Fri 6th Aug and they confirmed what I was told last week about the following

The zoo may allow the male snow leopard to leave the site and then recieve a new breeding pair to the UK from Europe
They are also in talks with the stud book holder and a zoo in Holland about bringing 2 pure bred Rothchilds Giraffe to the UK.
These 2 items can only be good news to the breeding programmes of both species in the UK.

Macaques have not arrived yet but everything is in place for them

Does anyone know what happened to the zoos female Babirusa as they recieved one from Twycross recently and shes doing very well.

The zoo in Holland is most likely Burgers (Arnhem) they have been very succesful in breeding pure Rothschild. 0:1 from there was moved to Chester in October 2009 and I believe another 0:2 will also transfer to a different UK collection in the near future

Hope to hear news on more snow leopard/s joining Dudley soon :)
