Sunda clouded leopard research

Whoever writes their article captions should read their own article first. The caption says they have radiocollared their first sunda clouded leopard. The article says they have radiocollared their fourth cat, but the other three were male and this is the first female.

Still, this is great news. If they need a photographer for the project, my number is in the phone book! :D

Am I the only one that has doubts on the fact that the first picture is a Sunda cloudy?

I'm no expert, but the second picture clearly looks different then the cloudy's I've seen in captivity, the first doesn't. The site it's referring to (lazerhorse.org) shows in it's article about Sunda clouded leopards a few more photo's, most of them seem to be shot at zoo's which is highly unlikely to be a Sunda?

I think the second picture is a clouded leopard from Sumatra, who are grouped together with those from Borneo. However, the 2 clouded leopards I have seen in Sabah - one in Lok Kawi Zoo and a wild one near Danum valley (yeah!!) looked quite different from those fotogaphed in Sumatra, their fur color was much more greyish compared to the "brown" fur of those from Sumatra.
