Super Zoo?

I have heard this term used with some zoos in North America.....I believe it has to to do with size of zoo and number of species the zoo exhibits as well as if the exhibits cover all geographic areas/species.....please let me know if anyone knows what I am speaking of and if so, are there any such zoos in the US or World?

I've personally never heard of the expression "super zoo", but in the book "America's Best Zoos" there is mention of the Columbus Zoo becoming a "mega zoo" in the next few years. Columbus currently has extensive North American, Asian and Australian areas, and with Polar Frontier opening soon, a 70-acre African Savanna by 2012, and a South American zone also opening in the next few years this zoo will be almost complete in terms of geographical layout and animal collection. Thus it could seriously become America's best zoo within the next 5 years.

Naturally zoos like San Diego, Bronx and Omaha are also potential "mega zoos" as all three of those establishments have vast animal collections and a diverse geographical range. I'm not sure that any zoo in all of North America will be able to top Columbus in the next 5 years in terms of size and general layout of the collection.

The master-plan for Chester was originally titled as "Superzoo", however, this has since been changed to "Natural Vision".

I do know what you're talking about, lol. I have never hear of the expression 'Super Zoo' though but generally the 'best' Zoos, being the truly brilliant Zoos, are in North America (San Diego, Toronto, North Carolina, Disney's Animal Kingdom, Busch Gardens, Sea World, etc etc) but others include Tokyo Zoo, Amsterdam Zoo, Holland Zoo, Singapore Zoo, Chester Zoo (atleast I think so) and others I'm sure.
