Does the facility still have groundhog, African crested porcupine, or Patagonian cavy still? Also the facility's website (and the latest USDA Report) says they hold Richardson's ground squirrel, Prevost's squirrel, eastern red squirrel, red-rumped agouti, and Sunda porcupine (the website also contains muskrat), are there any noticeable updates with that?

I haven't been in a while so I can't comment on much, but I saw the Crested Porcupines (Almost certainly missidentified Cape Porcupines) and Patagonian Maras last time I visited. The Sunda Porcupine should be the Palawan unless they show up separately on the USDA report (They only have 1 Palawan Porcupine AFAIK).

I'm surprised there was someone else brave enough to go out to this place! What were your overall thoughts? I'm considering going back (Solely for the Porcupine and "Olingo", although I'm very hesitant considering what I saw last time).

I listed everything I saw, I can't comment on what they may have bts.

They showed common raccoons, Virginia opossum, and North American porcupine on their instagram which don’t seem to be on permanent display.

Is this place worth the visit?

This place having 4.6 stars on Google, equal to the Minnesota Zoo just to its south, is disheartening. Do parkgoers just have zero standards or discernment ability whatsoever?
They really don't, and with anyone able to write a review I'm sure some of these places prop themselves up. Zoo Miami, arguably a top 10 zoo in this country, is at a 4.5 rating. Big Cat Habitat, currently the worst "zoo" I've ever been to (and I've been to some stinkers) is rated higher at 4.6. Also being much more famous and visited, I'm sure Miami is regularly targeted with negative reviews by ARA's, trolls and visitors who just had a bad day.

This is why zoochat and all the info members share is such an important resource to those with a passion for zoos and animals. Eventhough we all have different opinions, every review, photo uploaded etc lets people with similar interests and views get a much better idea of what a facility is like instead of relying on sources that have nothing to back themselves up and have no passion for this hobby.

This is well written and it's astonishing at how some genuinely awful zoos receive higher ratings than established, accredited institutions. Perhaps some trolls promote naff little places because their friends are the owners, or there are higher expectations at major zoos, but either way it's baffling at times. Thank goodness we have ZooChat with authentic reviews and thousands of photos so that great zoos can be promoted and poor ones can be trashed.

My theory as for the reason that places like this get higher online reviews is that it is easier for visitors to directly interact with animals at facilities like there, whereas that doesn't tend to happen at accredited zoos.

I think this is 100% it. I think personalized experience does more to motivate a review (ie a restaurant vs a grocery store) after and guests are more likely to feel positive after a personal interaction. There won't be as many "bored" or "lonely" comments then, the enclosure is de-emphasized, etc.

I also think the sort of person who wants to visit this kind of facility is more inclined to find it and to visit, and someone who dislikes it is less likely to go and therefore to leave a review... plus these facilities are treated like mom-and-pop stores compared to zoos.
