what I meant was that I don't have a Facebook account but I can see the photo fine because their account is free access.

I have seen that picture on their regular website. I would like to see some more pictures, I just hope it's just that neptune head, and nothing more.....

But sealife has done it's destructive work already, the new map of the aquarium looks terrible!

Wow, is that from a Where's Wally book, or a theme park map from the early 90s?

What is going on?

I should visit soon... it's been years, but I'd hate it if it was tacky and cheap.
 
I was in Sydney three weekends ago. Couldn't bring myself to go to the Aquarium. Maybe next time. Want to remember it as my favourite Aussie aquarium for a while longer.

Indeed, although it is in the typical SEA LIFE style, Kelly Tarlton's SEA LIFE now has a map like this too.

WILD LIFE Sydney has a different style map however, although still with people on the paths and at the same angle - I don't know if this pre-dates the Merlin takeover however: Interactive Map | Visitor Info | WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo

Interestingly, it completely disguises the fact that the attraction is inside a multi-storey building!
 
I would hate to have to use the Sydney Aquarium map linked to above. And the Wildlife Sydney map probably doesn't show you the three storeys because most of it is now all on one level - but I've never seen or heard those names before: Wallaby Cliffs, Kakadu Gorge, Gumtree Valley, Butterfly Tropics, Nightfall etc.

The old names made things too clear. You wouldn't want visitors to know what to expect.
 
can you go into the kangaroo enclosure now? I don't remember that you could do so previously.

You could when I last went in April 2011 (before the changes).

Just back on the aquarium, I note that the Lungfish is one of the featured animals in the "Mangrove Swamps"! A classic example of what happens when you try and give every section a "marketable" name i.e. worse than learning nothing, people learn the things wrong.
 
A small part of it - about 10% or less - was walkthrough. The animals could hop under a fence to get to you if they wanted. That whole area is now being renovated (or it was when I was there last month).

And I just realised I haven't posted any photos from that visit. Something to do in the next few days, I guess.

Not all of the sharks are back in the revamped oceanarium yet. Oceanworld lost a grey nurse on the weekend. That is 4 from the county's captive collection this year.
 
ugh that's a bad article with lines like “With the tank renovation Pig and Wuru are excited they can see and smile at each through the windows.” :p

I don't get the content though - it says the dugongs are now back on show after a "tank renovation" and refers to "a new tank". This can't be the renovation from 2012 surely and they have just finished now? It also says the two dugongs have always had to be kept separate and "have hardly ever seen each other", so maybe they have halved the tank so both are on display at the same time?
