Wild Life Sydney Sydney Wildlife World

Nice one!

Where did the platypuses come from (zoos or from non rehab situation?)?

Given their specific ages, they must surely be zoo animals. I rather suspect they might have been the Platypus displayed at the adjacent Aquarium and have simply been moved next door. The old "freshwater" zone is no longer mentioned on the Sydney SEALIFE Aquarium website.

both platypus are from the next-door Sydney Sea Life Aquarium. I wonder if that means the Aquarium only has the one now, or if they are getting more?

EDIT: cross-posted with zooboy28. I guess, from his post, that the Aquarium now doesn't have any then.

Perhaps they realised that platypus are freshwater and not "Sea Life"?

:p

Does anybody has a list of species currently kept in the nocturnal section"Nightfalls"? I also need to know how many exhibits are there and if they mix some of the animals in"Nightfalls".Thank you!

Haven't been for a few years, so species list may be outdated (I don't think they have Plains Rats any more), but enclosure listings should be pretty accurate.

As at December 2013:

Tall Exhibits:
Brushtail Possum
Feathertail Glider

Large Exhibit:
Spinifex Hopping Mouse + Bilby (I think they were mixed?)

Round Exhibit:
Plains Rat

Terrarium Type Exhibits:
Spotted Python
Centralian Knob-tailed Gecko
Northern Giant Cave Gecko
Fat-tailed Dunnart

Large Exhibits:
Spot-tailed Quoll
Ghost Bat + Rufous Bettong

Is it possible to give the list of the animals found in other exhibits to

Butterfly Tropics
Devil's Den
Gumtree Valley
Wallaby Cliffs
Daintree Rainforest
Kangaroo Walk-About
Kakadu Gorge
Bugs Garden

Is this place above board with its animal housing room? or is it quite basic/unreasonable for this day and age? havent visited but thought despite obvious existence for international tourist dollars to see Australian wildlife without crossing harbour to Taronga or traveling west to Featherdale/Koala Park there wasnt really a justifiable reason to cramp so many animals in an inddoor/netted building space in an already congested area.

Any more knowledgeable opinions about this place would be greatly appreciated

There's a couple of reviews on here for this place, so I suggest you either have a read of them or go and visit it yourself.

Having been there a few times I have no problem with the space they allocate for the animals.

I was there today. The animals have plenty of room. I don't think there is any problem. Go have a look and form your own opinion.
In relation to the croc exhibit. It is getting remodelled with "pop up" viewing tunnels and is advertised to reopen in summer 2017.

A new 'Crocodile Encounter' featuring pop-up windows (as you said) will be opening soon for saltwater crocodile: Crocodile Experience Coming Soon!

This will be the first time that Wild Life Sydney has exhibited both saltwater and freshwater crocodiles at the same time (don't seem to remember them having freshies before these latest three).
