Colchester Zoo Taking DNA from Colchester sun bears

I have heard that they are particularly bad-tempered.

According to the Bears of the World website:

The sun bear is known to be exceptionally aggressive and will attack without cause. Having such large canines, extremely strong jaws and long claws, it is said to be one of the most dangerous animals to encounter in the jungle.

I'm not sure how this makes them more dangerous than other bears although I've heard that brown and black bears in North America will generally avoid humans if they hear you coming, maybe this isn't the case with sun bears.
 
Some idea of how tough Sun Bears are; they have held their own in mixed exhibits with bigger bear species.
