Some nice births already during 2014 :
jan. 3 a Visayan spotted deer
jan. 6 2 Visayan warty piglets

For the first time at the Talarak Foundation 2 Negros Bleeding heart pigeons have hatched (FB) :) !
 
Captive hatched Coleto's formed new pairs and moved into the renovated Bleeding heart and starling aviaries.
New -temporary - enclosure for the Visayan leopard cat ( Priomilurus bengalensis raboni ) - the second smallest cat in the world.
 
I would hope so - Pigeons of most species generally do quite well and there is huge interest from the private sector.
 
2 Visayan spotted deers born at the Conservation Centre. Now 33 animals of this species are kept here :).

More late Philippine Duck (Anas luzonica) ducklings this season. Normally they tend to breed on the start of the rainy season (June to around September) but this year possibly due to the El Nino phenomenon (drought) they are still breeding all the way to December.
 
New aviaries for smaller owls taken into use. On display :
Negros bobook ( Ninox philippensis centralis ) and 1 Negros scops owl ( Otis nigrorum ).

Deer and pigs in first ever Satellite Breeding Station for large mammals of Talarak Foundation in Lunao Maao. An important step towards species ex-citu conservation and huge step forward to future reintroduction. Animals are housed in larger and more natural enclosures conductive to their rehabilitation process. Progeny born in such conditions and treated with minimum contact with humans are more suitable for future release into the wild natural habitat in the edge of secondary and primary rainforest....where they belong

New species at the Biodiversity Conservation Center Bacolod ( from Facebook ) :

THE GUARDIANS ARRIVED!!! We welcome new species in Biodiversity Conservation Center Bacolod. Although not directly threatened since its habitat is not forest the Philippine (Eastern) Grass Owl (Tyto longimembris amauronota) is an important part of showcase of Philippine biodiversity! This species has very important roll particularly here in Negros Island. As one of the top predators of the grassland habitat it is very important natural control of the rat population in the sugarcane. Please come to see them and other unique amazing creatures in Negros Forest in Sought Capitol
 
From Facebook, new species at Talarak :

Dolarbird (Eurystomus orientalis cyanocolis) new addition in Biodiversity Conservation Center. This species is the only representative of roller family in the Philippines. It is very skilled hunter of large insect like beetles and bumblebees which he ambush in the open air similar way like swallows or bee eaters....the population in the Philippines is declining.

The piglets are here. All of our Kabankalan herd breeding females have given birth to healthy babies for the 2017 season. Which brings the total captive population to 49 individuals between the two centers in Kabankalan and Bacolod City.

Successfully captive hatched and parent raised Philippine Blue Naped parrot (Tanygnathus lucionensis) chicks. This species was once common throughout the Philippine archipelago but is now threatened due to poaching and habitat loss. Our goal here at Talarak Foundation is to breed this species extensively so that someday we can release captive born specimens in forested areas around Negros where their numbers have been severely depleted.
