Dunia Air Tawar received a number of unidentified Indonesian native fish as well as an Zhen Zhu flowerhorn cichlid. Additionaly, DAT managed to breed their jaguar cichlid, which were currently off show.

TMII received several live reptiles, probably confiscated animals, from the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, which include:
- One albino saltwater crocodile
- Three false gharials
- Nine pig-nosed turtles
- Two unspecified snake-necked turtles
- Three red-billed short-necked turtle

SeaWorld Ancol was the first zoo/aquaria in Indonesia to house albino salties, back in 2008-2011, before the exhibit was refurbished for otters (now for turtles, milkfish and gars). On the same exhbit, they also exhibited false gharials as well.

Two great news from TMII!

1. Three Komodo dragon eggs has hatched at the Reptile Park.

2. An Javan hawk-eagle has hatched at the Bird Park (Two hatches in two consecutive years, let's go~)

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is temporarily closed for revitalization since May 17 and planned to be finished and reopened on October.

I really hope that this meant greater improvement for the Bird Park, Komodo Museum and Reptile Park, Dunia Serangga, and Dunia Air Tawar. They have nice species and good conservation effort, but most of their exhibits are outdated.

A second Javan hawk-eagle of 2022 has hatched on August 23! This is the third hatching in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.

Taman Mini Indonesia Indah will be opened back tomorrow, 20 November, for limited amount of visitors after over six months of revitalization. The revitalization was part of the government's projects ahead of the G20 summit held in Bali this week.

Not much photos and videos I've found documenting the new Bird Park and Komodo Museum Reptile Park, as well as the Insect Museum and Dunia Air Tawar. I'm not sure if there is much changes on Dunia Air Tawar and Insect Museum, but I think that there could be some minor upgrades for the Bird Park and Komodo Museum Reptile Park, which themselves were popular and quite a icon among local visitors compared to DAT and the Insect Museum.

The only addition I know is that DAT has displayed a pair (Could be more) of young-adult giant snakeheads in one of those home aquarium. DAT previously display a lone large, yet crooked, giant snakehead along with giant pangasius and stripped wallagos in a "Southeast Asian river monster" aquarium.

I've seen video of the Bird Park after the revitalization. Seems like there aren't really any upgrades, pretty much the same as it was during my visit last year.

Safe to say that the same thing could be said for Museum Komodo Reptile Park, Insect Museum, and Dunia Air Tawar. The government hype it up as if the entire TMII, including the animal sections of the park, will be upgraded into international level and I was unfortunately on board on the hype train without second thought. Turn out it was only some upgrades on the main portion of TMII and the addition of a monorail (Which I absolutely loved, it looks so awesome!).

Oh wow.. I hope the aviaries in TMII Bird Park will be more lush and forest-like, and not barren like what it was. As for the Reptile Park, hoping that they'll do a crocodile exhibit with underwater viewing.

What interests me that there's a binturong in the logo, probably hinting on TMII's possibility of having a some sort of "mammal-centric" park or even opening a zoo by themselves!

Speaking of mammals earlier, TMII did kept several mammals. There used to be muntjacs, civets and squirrels at the back of Dunia Serangga, and Taman Legenda still keeps domesticated animals like sheeps, horses, alpacas, cows and rabbit. I wonder if TMII will bring them back as part of JGS, along with the advertised binturong. Hopefully they will go walk on the "scientific" path of BRIN Animalium and "conservation" path of Taman Safari/Jatim Park.

I can trust TMII knowing that DAT used to breed Neolissochilus thienemanni back in 2013-2015 and Osteochilus melanopleurus back in 2016. They should have a good record on that, and probably that's the reason why Dunia Serangga got rid of their mammal collection, in order to intensify research on insects and breeding them, as well as improving their animal welfare. Prolly the mammals could be housed at the Taman Burung's space, since it's pretty spacious and probably one or two small mammals could be exhibited in the aviary like mousedeers, flying lemurs, squirrels or bird-compatible primates. AFAIK Jurong Bird Park also kept some miscellaneous fauna like reptiles, mammals and fishes in their aviaries.

These facilities will launch their soft opening from 11 to 17 of August with limited visit quota (100 max/day) and will be fully opened on August 19.

IMP:
New DATS has to be the most interesting in term of design and concept. In the new Komodo Museum, it seems that visitors have to enter a single entrance into the museum and then into the Reptile Park (If they still going to have that). I honestly don't have that much problem with them phasing out their Reptile Park as long as they make their museum interesting with not only just Indonesian reptiles and amphibians, but also native and endemic mammals and birds like before 2014.

Really hoped to see the new Bird Park to be on par with Bird Paradise, collection and exhibit wise. While I also hoped for the Dunia Air Tawar part of DATS to actually focus on interesting species, not a bunch of man-made morphs and deform- I mean "short-bodied and unique" fishes.

I also really want them to have specific zones based on geography similar to River Wonders (I.e Amazon, Congo, Mekong and a new, much larger Indonesian province-based exhibits), they also need a geographicly-themed mixed species tanks rather than singular species exhibits to save up space for new species.

By the look of it, I guess there won't be a "mammals park" for atleast a while. But, I got a feeling that they will still have a mammal since binturong isn't a really a random animal to be put on their logo. I swear to God if it's another Jakarta Aquarium Safari area situation...

Probably the mammals will be in the Bird Park's aviaries, as additionals. Bird Paradise did housed some mammals in their aviaries like wallabies and lemurs.
