Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo News 2014

2 Serval kittens are new to the zoo, and will become animal ambassadors. I'm assuming these are the siblings of the kittens that just arrived in Naples Zoo.

The video in this article reveals that the Serval sisters will be on public display 12-12:30 daily in what was formerly the Komodo Dragon exhibit. This explains why the exhibit was "under renovation" during my visit two months ago.

So what is happen with the Komodo Dragon?

I don't know what happened to their male Komodo Dragon, Maximus, that was on display in that area. Though I never visited the zoo's Discovery Center, there might be some young Komodo Dragons on display in there.

Gharials have been added to the zoo's collection. From the looks of the zoo's map, they have replaced Tufted Deer and Bar-Headed Geese in their exhibit. A picture of the exhibit, taken by snowleopard, is in the link below the map.

Wow that's pretty significant! Anyone know where these gharial came from? Were they part of the gharial that came in from San Diego?

Unfortunately, the zoo hasn't mentioned a thing about the Gharials besides their information page and a few photos on Flickr. I'd certainly like to know more, as well as where the Tufted Deer and Bar-Headed Geese that lived in this exhibit went.

I will be in Tampa soon and just checked their admission fee. I was shocked at how high it is - twenty five bucks for a modest city zoo? Do people really pay that much? I mean Miami is ten bucks less and is a much bigger zoo. I may go because I get half price reciprocal admission, but I am not sure I would go if I had to pay full price.

It is that high because many rides are already included (although I think for most of them you might be to old...:). Still, personally, I think, it is okay. Keep also in mind that there is free parking (other zoological Institutions, like DAK, Seaworld, Bronx, Brookfied charge you 15 Bucks and more for that).
