This is the first rhinoceros born in a North American zoo in 2023! Hooray!
I was reminded today of an May 2021 post where I observed without any concrete evidence back then ... that before long I expected a GOH rhino calf to be born at TWP and so it did in early February 2023!!!


Any regular knows when black rhino Dubya left the collection for Fossil Rim on a breeding loan?
How have the crash of white rhino adapted to the conditions at TWP?
Does anyone have new information when the transfer of bull Dubya did take place?
(Also ..., if he made any inroads with the FF at Fossil Rim ... of course????).


TBH:
I did and don't expect anything much now from any of the southern black rhino program. I am afraid it was badly administered by AZA ... and certainly since the eastern black rhino SSP was well-established historically and the IRF never got to grips with AZA over a part of the black rhino SSP being focussed on rescue and recovery of the southern black subspecies ....
