Tanganyika wildlife park

limpopo

I am new to this site. I wondered if anyone has been to Tanganyika park in Kansas. I am trying to get info about Limpopo the black rhino there. I met Limpopo when he was 2 months old at San Diego wildlife park and later when he was older, he tried to come to me and seemed to remember me.
He was sent to Florida on breeding loan and after a storm destroyed the park he was temporarily taken to gulf breeze zoo and then to his home at Tanganyika.

I haven't been able to get there to see him. I have tried to contact them for info, but haven't really gotten anywhere. I just really care about him. I hope to get there next year.

If anyone has seen him or has info I would really appreciate any news.
:)

Limpopo was moved to facility in Texas (I'm sorry - I can't remember which one) last year. Tanganyika has two new black rhinos - Travis and Kit from Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando. Their new exhibit is still under construction, but will hopefully open before the 2013 season closes.

I recently did the private tour of Fossil Rim, which goes past the black rhino area (this area is not on the main drive and is closed to the public). We just kind of drove past and the tour guide said they have four black rhinos, but did not give any names or details. He did say they technically belong to the government of Zimbabwe (I am pretty sure, could also be Zambia but I do not think so).

Thank you for taking time to respond. I did get info Friday that he is at the Fort Worth Zoo. Thanks to everyone who tried to help! I have to take a trip now!

I only saw one black rhino on exhibit at Fort Worth (but I only had a few hours there and only stayed about a minute at that exhibit). Maybe it was the one you refer to or maybe they have more and it was off exhibit.

maybe it was Limpopo. One of the employees at the zoo said he was there. Can't wait. Everyone has been so helpful. This chat is great. Maybe I can help someone else in the future. It's amazing how animals can capture your heart...... when I first saw him he was 2 months old and running back and forth playing with us. His mom wanted him to come to the back for the night and eat and he didn't want to. She was really getting mad at him. He was so cute. When I saw him again, he came to my voice and tried to get to me, it was amazing! They have moved him several times around the country and it's been a long time but I will get to Fort Worth this year to see him. Thanks again!
