Marwell Wildlife Tapirs

I think Taun means how it's a shame that they won't be keeping malayan tapirs again, something I agree with.

Zupu also has some pictures in the gallery. I believe Zupu works on West Section where the tapirs we'll be kept, could he/she shed some more light on this?

Im guessing the answer to my question is no!

Thanks for the info about the dwarf one giraffe, never heard of it.

Haven't you seen them at Twycross?

I don't think I have don't they have (or had Brazilian tapirs) which I thought was the only species I have seen there?

Just remembered, How could I forget seeing them? They are done by the main road? I think this area was flooded last time I visited.

Both Tapir species at Twycross are at opposite ends of the zoo. The Brazilians live in a mixed paddock with capybara and guanaco I think and the Malayans are down by the Asian aviary.

Yes one of their paddocks runs alongside the driveway off the main road. They have had Malayan Tapirs(or rather a succession of them) for a very long time but similar to Marwell have not been very successful with them. Their housing is not brilliant either.:(

Just to say the tapirs are in with Vicuña not guanaco, but the guanaco are in the paddock between the babirusa's and the Vicuña.
