Tarsier in OZ

I think they used to have them at pearl coast zoo, in broome, they arent around any more.

Do you have any evidence that Pearl Coast had them? They were big on psittacines, hoofstock and had cheetah for a short time, but I don't recollect hearing any suggestion that they had tarsiers. A friend who worked up there never mentioned tarsiers. I don't believe there were any primates or nocturnal species. Given how difficult they are to keep I would be very surprised.

yeh its true.....couple of sources including old birdkeeper mags where they are referred to frequently
 
If this was true I can only imagine they didn't last very long.

Going back a couple of steps, Melbourne Zoo was pushing ahead with a husbandry manual for Philippine tarsiers during the mid '90s. i imagine that it was decided too difficult to proceed. Mind you other 'prosimians' have come into vogue - Pygmy slow loris featured on many plans in the late '90s, now some zoos are holding one of the Slow lorises...
