Tasmanian Devil Importation for US Zoos

The Fort Wayne and Columbus individuals should be out in the next few weeks, Toledo should be a month or two.

I really wish ZooTampa had included them in their renovation of Australia. They had them briefly back in the late 90's, but their habitat was less than ideal (the current juvenile komodo enclosure).

Unknown at the time, they are heading to Tasmania for preshipment quarantine. So I imagine they are still in the relatively early stages of shipment. this video mentions it's 9 males and 2 females going overseas, but it isn't yet decided who will be going to which facility.

Is it possible then that it’s multiple facilities then? Toledo previously held the 4 other pairs and has the room to probably hold 6 pairs.

of course at least some of those devils are heading to Singapore Zoo and Prague Zoo aswell, so we don't know right now how many of the 11 are coming stateside as there is no way to evenly spread out all 11 to 4 different zoos.
 
As part of the fundraising campaign “Make the Tasmanian Devil the Marsupial of the Year”, they updated when the 11 devils are expected at these international zoos: Singapore, Prague, San Diego, and Los Angeles. They should arrive between December 2024 to March 2025, contingent on them passing quarantine. First mentioned on this thread by @King of Komodo Dragons. I’m pretty thrilled to see them come back to the states, especially my home zoo(LA). Their (former)habitat is heavily planted and the devils were a crown jewel of the Australia area.
