Tasmanian Devil

Do you think enough is being done to save the Tasmanian Devil?

What more can be done to help the species prevail?

Is their habitat being preserved?

Unless a cure can we found for the facial tumour disease, there's not really much more than can be done except for the breeding that's being done in captivity in Tasmania as well as mainland Australia.

I really think the best thing to happen would be the species dying out in the wild, so ALL of the captive animals bar a few could be eventually released into the wilds of Tasmania.

Do you have any ideas of what more could be done to save this species of animal?

Habitat is not an issue. Until the facial tumor issue they were doing very well.

What I think needs to be done is to introduce disease free Devils to the mainland as soon as they can. Huge areas of Mainland Australia have suitable habitat for Devils.

Hopefully mainland devils would also help control foxes and cats which would benefit our native species incredibly and prevent more extinctions.
