A baby red flanked duiker was born at the zoo on April 5th to first time parents Rufus and Ruby. He has been named Rooi.

On November 3rd, the zoo announced that a (0.1) Sardinian donkey named Jenny has passed away after a sudden break in colic. She was 29 years old and passed away in the week of October 24th-30th.

On December 29th, the zoo announced that the zoo's first red panda born at the zoo, a (1.0) named Marvin, has passed away. It is not known how he died, as no cause was found.

An adorable male sloth bear cub was born the week before Thanksgiving 2021.

This is the sixth cub born to parents Priya and Mick. In honor of dad, Mick, the cub has been named “Jagger” and this little fella has some adorable moves!

The bears will alternate time on exhibit when the Idaho Falls Zoo opens in April.
 
On April 19th, the zoo announced that due to avian influenza, the zoo removed the waterfowl feeder machine near the pond, as well as relocated some birds to exhibits with covered shelter or off-exhibit entirely.

On May 6th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) African penguin named Makena passed away on April 18th due to a rapid deterioration of health. She was 16 years old.

The zoo also announced that a (0.1) tundra swan named Blanche and a (1.0) roseate spoonbill passed away at age 31 (which made her the oldest tundra swan in the AZA at the time of her passing) and 21 respectively.

On May 19th, the zoo announced that due to more cases of avian influenza popping up in Idaho, the facility has decided to move their flamingos, peacocks, guineafowl, and some waterfowl species have been moved off-exhibit, while modifications like extra netting, shade sails, and other measures have been added to keep wild birds out of the exhibits.
