Chester Zoo Tejas Update

Having watched and listened to Jane Horrocks narrate Zoo days, does anyone else always say 'Tejas' in a mock thick Lancashire accent? Good to see an update, looks like his mane has still a bit of growing to do!

Awww, thanks for the update, I often wondered how Tejas was doing after his shakey start in life. Great to see him grown up!

Wow - it's great to see what a fine male lion he has grown into! His former keeper who hand-reared him must be very proud! I wonder if he ever visits and if so, if Tejas remembers him?

Another update for Tejas fans and some more pictures from my friend. The pictures were taken last week. He is weighing close to 154kg now.

Thanks again for the updated photos - he's magnificent now! A different thread mentioned a Zoo days update on Tejas filmed before Xmas which was never aired. We waited all Xmas, scanning the TV Guides in vain - I wonder if it will ever be aired now? Strange not to be after all the coverage in the Zoo Days Series.

Your very welcome Andiii, I think it may be released on dvd possibly in the zoo shop as I know the first series of Zoo Days is available there. Tejas looks amazing hard to believe he was that little ball of fur.

The keeper we were speaking to said Alan (Woodward) the keeper who reared Tejas has been to visit him in the past, but hasn't been yet this year and is unlikely to.
Oh that's a shame! I wonder why he isn't going? Did he say? I'm sure Tejas would remember him.

Yep - hard to believe it's the same lion - so great to see though! Thanks for the info re the DVD - perhaps they will do his full story? I got the Zoo Series DVD from there that you referred to. Will have a look each time I go, it's a 'got to have' if it is released!

Last time i spoke to Alan he said when he last visited Tejas that he remembered him an got very excited. He also said it was a very emotional experience for both of them.
Awww bless! I can imagine it would be emotional seeing how upset Alan was in Zoo Days at his departure, after all, he was his baby and wouldn't have been alive had it not been for his care and love. So pleased tejas remembered him - I would imagine he always will considering the bond they had.

Yeah hopefully in the future Tejas might return to chester. The plan is to introduce him to the female at besacon in September to make sure he is strong enough to hold his own.
That would be great to see him at Chester again. I'm sure he will hold his own with the females and hopefully have babies of his own when old enough
Is any part of the plan to return him to Chester? Or is it just wishful thinking on your part?
