as I understand it (from asking about something similar a few years ago) the listings have to be updated manually. It doesn't get done very often, and it can be annoying if you want to scan down the list to see if there are any new photos. If a comment is made on a photo the list will usually show there being one photo, however, due to that post. [Although looking at it now, it shows zero photos and twelve comments...]
