That Zoo Animal Looks So Sad!

Thanks! I couldn't be more thrilled that zoo keepers are liking it, since I'm not one, I don't have direct experience outside of the few animals that I own. :)

Glad everyone else finds this as annoying as me! Being at the zoo everyday at the moment has really hit home the utter stupidity of many generic zoo visitors!

I really can't stand people who criticise enclosures and bored animals when they watch for all of 2 minutes if that!

The other extreme is people who complain it's not active enough and want it to "do something interesting" - zoo's are not a circus!!

I hate people who say that. There's a whole bunch of people who say they hate the zoo and think it's evil, but they have a pet dog and eat at Mc. Donalds...

What I especially hate are the people who go to zoos and talk about how sad and horrible it is, but continue to visit zoos for their own entertainment. If you really think it's horrible, why visit?

Anyway. Most people aren't very familiar with animal behavior, so they think an animal is happy or sad when it's not. In addition to the frequent "this zoo animal looks so sad!", I've seen plenty of videos and photos that are presented as cute when it's actually problematic somehow.

Perhaps one day zoo exhibits will carry signs that read

PLEASE DO NOT FEED OR ANTHROPOMORPHISE THESE ANIMALS

That would give Joe Public something to think about

Unfortunately the Zoos themselves seem equally guilty of encouraging the latter nowadays- their Facebook pages consist of hardly anything else!

Actually, it would give Joe Public something to look up when he got home - assuming he remembers how to spell it!

:p
