The Best Reptile Collection in the UK ?...

Im writing this from school!

They share a spacious enclsure lots of shade places to get away from each other, a large pool, wood chips, sand, grass

I still couldn't find anything on there about crocs (or the Croc House) except a list of species and some photos of one with its jaws taped shut being manhandled by kids.

really? i hate pet shops that keep rare exotic species that people really have no idea how to keep :( my local has a few more common ones like iguana and tortoises, if they ever got a crocodile i would report them

why? that seems a strange comment, why cant exotic species be kept by private keepers? I have seen private collections where animals are kept in top condition as good and better than zoos.

You mean like Howletts :D

i was referring to unexperienced keepers that keep geckos in small tnaks with very little food/water etc

But please don't forget the thousands of excellent private keepers in the UK who do some wonderful things with many small animals. As a private animal keeper/breeder I find it quite offending that you are seemingly lumping us all in the same boat as those who don't give such high standards of care!

I realise this is re-opening a forum from a long time ago, but reading the posts I thought I had to give my view. I believe this is a case of a child telling porkies. Chinese Alligators are Critically Endangered, I highly doubt a pet shop will be allowed to house them. Plus, Black Caimen and Slender Snouted Crocodiles are also very unusual in zoos. Why the hell would a pet shop be aloud to house them???:confused:

why wouldnt they? and you can get a lot of stuff thats uncommon in zoos privatly, including chinese aligators which i have seen listed by a pet shop

West midland safari park have an excellent herp collection with Mark O Shea personally owning many of the individuals within the reptile house. The refirbished internal exhibits are also very good, although the house itself is very old.

I have seen a Chinese Alligator in a pet shop. It was bought by a private keeper and now resides in a BIAZA member collection.

West Midlands then Chester Then Cotworld's i havent visited London(yet)But West Midland's Mark O Shea's Reptile World and Record Breakers for me is superb especially the female King Cobra:)
Regards Jordan.

Jersey and West Midlands for me. West Midlands has many amazing species like alligators, nile crocodiles and the cobras are awesome. Jersey is the most meaningfull, with critically endangered species such as Utila Island S
piny tailed iguanas and Mountain Chicken frogs, and two young komodo dragons and eyelash vipers are pretty amazing. However, Cotswold has become increasingly better over the years, and now holds black and green mambas, as well as morelets crocodiles, anacondas, Reticulated Pythons and Lace Monitors 1.2 metres long.

Do Jersey still have many of those rare Round Island species from the Indian ocean
