Has anyone ever heard of this game? Or own this game?
For those not in the know, "The Champion of the Wild" is a card game that can basically be summed up as "Animal Olympics". It involves a wide range of animals, from lions and penguins to crocodiles, dolphins and bees, competing in a wide variety of events in five different categories, from Hurdles and Tug-of-War to Hide & Seek and Hot-Dog Eating...yeah, it's that kinda crazy.
Each game, between three and eight players will put forward a single animal to compete across three events. The aim isn't necessarily to decide who would win...each player has to instead argue why they think their animal would win, before ranking their opponents. Whoever gets the most points overall wins.
There are, as of the current edition, 58 animals and 75 events. The animals are mostly animals people would know, but there are a few surprises and I really like the variety of creatures picked. The events are cool too, but even if you're not playing, it's fun just to view the cards, which show illustrations of the animals competing, often with very funny depictions (for example, one shows a walrus and an anaconda in a Chug contest...literally downing a pint together).
