On a more serious note, do they plan to improve Orangutan Forest (Or what ever its called)?

The zoo has annonced plans for a £2million tropical house. It will include 7 new spieces as well as a new home for the buffy headed cappuchins.

About Colchester Zoo - Future Developments

Sory stripes but this has been news for over a year now, work is due to start later in the year. Two of the 'new' species are already at the zoo these being the Cuban Crocodiles and Green Anacondas. A new tamandua enclosure is also going to be in this as well as an exhibit for the Pied Tamarins.
You can view plans of this on the colchester council website:

Once on here click accept and then type in CO3 0SL in the postcode field. Once you have done this you will come across other plans aswell including Orangutan forest and a new animal hospital on site.

This new tropical exhibit should have been started on now:confused:. But there's no way they'll be able to do this in time for the late 2010 deadline!

On the Primate evening I got told that the old bear cages now housing Capuchins (of which me and my mum were the first people to see them when they first arrived from Chester):D and injured Cherry Crowned Mangabys? Is going to be redeveloped into an Austrailain exhibit. I've got no idea what will be in them.
