if its not bad enough that Chuck Norris has ensured The Expendables sequel gets a PG-13 rating (!), the filming of certain scenes in Bulgaria's Devetak Cave last year has reportedly resulted in terrible effects for thirteen species of endangered bats that were hibernating there. The following is a 3.48 minute video from a Bulgarian news channel.

So will Chuck Norris be in the movie or not?

And here are some interesting Chuck Norris facts, just for the record......

Ghosts sit around the campfire and tell Chuck Norris stories.
Chuck Norris counted to infinity - twice.
Chuck Norris once got bit by a rattle snake........ After three days of pain and agony ..................the rattle snake died.
Chuck Norris once round-house kicked a horse in the chin... its desendants are now known as the girraffe.

there's also the fact that Chuck Norris doesn't have a chin under his beard, he has an extra fist.

Yes Mr. Norris will be in the sequel along with Mr. Van Damme, and with (it seems) more screen time for Mr. Willis and Mr. Schwarzenegger than in the first movie. The story goes that Mr. Norris was offended by the amount of cursing in the script and refused to be in it unless it was a PG-13 rated movie so more fans could see it. I'm not sure exactly how true that is but that's the story.

However, all that is incidental to the story of this thread.

If Chuck Norris commands that all cursing in the world will cease, then it !@#$%ing better cease. Because he's Chuck Norris.

Is The Expendables worth watching? I like Bruce Willis and Arnie (even if he did help run my state into the ground while he was running it), but can't really stand Stallone (especially since he apparently has made some endangered bats more endangered).

That video is sickening. The real question is how in the world did they get a permit to film here from the Bulgarian authorities? (Of course I already know the answer - money). I hope there is an outcry over this and that Hollywood filmakers learn they need to take environmental considerations more seriously when scouting locations.

Guns don't kill people: Chuck Norris kills people!

I guess I should have put this thread in the Zoo Cafe section then.

I wouldn't really say The Expendables is worth watching. I mean, its not terrible, but if you make an ensemble action movie its never going to be anything like as good as the vision in your head. And seriously, who are these "iconic action stars" -- Terry Crewes? Randy Couture? I grew up with 80s action movies but the only reason I had heard of Crewes was because he was the dad in recent tv sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris"

The Expendables is basically another Stallone vanity piece, with the added raison d'etre of him trying to establish Jason Statham as the "new" action star. The bulk of the movie was centred around Stallone and Statham, with the rest in what amounted to minor supporting roles. The appearance of Schwarzenegger and Willis was about a minute or two in total. Disappointing really, especially as that scene was shown in all the trailers.

Here's an amusing "re-edited" version of the script pointing out a lot of its flaws: http://www.the-editing-room.com/the-expendables.html

PG-13 is going to sink the sequel, even with Chuck Norris on board. Van Damme is going to be a secondary stone dragging it down. Acting certainly isn't a requirement of action movies, but of all 80s action stars Van Damme was the least capable. I hope at least he's the villain so he dies.

absolutely right! The problem for the wildlife officials etc, is of course that to the mainstream public its just a load of stupid bats so who cares.
