Is The Expendables worth watching? I like Bruce Willis and Arnie (even if he did help run my state into the ground while he was running it), but can't really stand Stallone (especially since he apparently has made some endangered bats more endangered).
Guns don't kill people: Chuck Norris kills people!
I guess I should have put this thread in the Zoo Cafe section then.
I wouldn't really say The Expendables is worth watching. I mean, its not
terrible, but if you make an ensemble action movie its never going to be anything like as good as the vision in your head. And seriously, who are these "iconic action stars" -- Terry Crewes? Randy Couture? I grew up with 80s action movies but the only reason I had heard of Crewes was because he was the dad in recent tv sitcom "Everybody Hates Chris"
The Expendables is basically another Stallone vanity piece, with the added
raison d'etre of him trying to establish Jason Statham as the "new" action star. The bulk of the movie was centred around Stallone and Statham, with the rest in what amounted to minor supporting roles. The appearance of Schwarzenegger and Willis was about a minute or two in total. Disappointing really, especially as that scene was shown in all the trailers.
Here's an amusing "re-edited" version of the script pointing out a lot of its flaws:

PG-13 is going to sink the sequel, even with Chuck Norris on board. Van Damme is going to be a secondary stone dragging it down. Acting certainly isn't a requirement of action movies, but of all 80s action stars Van Damme was the least capable. I hope at least he's the villain so he dies.
