Wow, five years later and San Diego Zoo did an excellent job with the Denny Sanford Wildlife Explorer's Basecamp.
In regards to Urban Jungle, rather than do an African Woodlands/Savannah section and proposing an overlook path to AR's Acacia Woodlands I suggest a Southeast Asia section in corporation with Bear Canyon, dubbing it Cloud Asia.
To begin, Move the bears over to NF, replacing the current Hoofstock Mesa habitats completely and next to Polar Bear Plunge. Send the primates to Lost Forest or incorporate them to Cloud Asia (Place the Aye-aye behind the scenes or create a habitat for them in AR). Keep the the Langur, SAE aviaries, and Sun Bear habitats as is.
After working at a facility featuring a Southeast Asia section, I think San Diego can do an excellent job representing the fauna that resides there. The path would begin in front of where the hippos are (temporarily replacing the Indian rhinos) turning slightly to the right and then a sharp turn where the current Animal Ambassador presentation space is. The path would then do a large a zigzag trail, similar to AR and then connect to the langurs habitat. Highlights of the section can include relocating the Orangutans and Siamangs over there, providing a viewable habitat for clouded leopards and possibly move the Malayan tigers and tapis there as well. Switch the African clawless otter for Asian small clawed otters mixed with binturongs. Have some small aviaries built as you make your walk. This may be a stretch but they can incorporate an Freshwater Aquarium for fish that live within the Mekong River and bring conservation awareness for fishing in that area.
