In terms of fishkeeping, many people seem to think that it's OK to buy a fish without knowing anything about it and research later if ever. I don't agree at all. While I have kinda bought some of my fish on impulse, I have always known what they are and how to house them. From the seller I only ask questions about feeding them at most.
I've seen people defending goldfish bowls and it just makes me sad. I understand that it isn't always clear which websites/books to trust, but if you buy any animal, you should always do at least one Google search beforehand, preferrably many many more.
