the largest collection of lemurs in Europe

An honourable mention for Linton with 7 species:

White-collared*
Sclater's
Western Gentle
Red Ruffed
Crowned
Mongoose
Red-bellied

If they weren't missing the two commonest taxa (Ring-tailed and Black-and-white Ruffed) they would be right up there with Mulhouse.

* note for taxonomy nerds... the correct scientific name for this species is now considered to be Eulemur cinereiceps - originally thought to be a separate (and rather mysterious) taxa known as the Grey-headed Lemur. However, genetic analysis has now proved that albocollaris and cinereiceps are one and the same but cinereiceps takes precedence as it was described way back in 1890 whereas albocollaris was first described as recently as 1975.

Actually, zootierliste lists Linton as having both, putting them on 9 species with Mulhouse.

Well! It's my turn, :) in Bioparc Valencia (my local zoo) they have 7 species of lemurs:

Alaotran gentle lemur / Hapalemur alaotrensis
Black-and-white ruffed lemur / Varecia variegata variegata
Mongoose lemur / Eulemur mongoz
Red-bellied lemur / Eulemur rubriventer
Red-fronted lemur / Eulemur rufus
Red ruffed lemur / Varecia rubra
Ring-tailed lemur / Lemur catta

Linton Zoo do not hold Ring-Tailed or Black and White Ruffed Lemurs. Which is actually quite nice having a zoo i am very close to not having the most common species!
I would rate their 'Rare Lemur Breeding Centre' as one of the finest in the Uk - It has won several BIAZA (possibly EAZA?) Awards.
Its certainly my favourite!

Broad-nosed Gentles are in the back yard behind the Walled Garden - directly opposite the Yellow Mongooses. Mongoose Lemurs are in the Walled Garden - by the weaver aviary (where the Alaotrans were kept for a while before moving to 'Madagascar'. The Grey Mouse Lemur(s?) is mixed with Malagasy Jumping Rat in the old weaver aviary opposite the exit to the main Madagascar enclosure.

Might be the lateness of the hour but I can't for the life of me recall exactly where the Red-bellies are - around the Walled Garden/Madagascar area somewhere, I think.

Correct, the Red bellies are in the walk through, they had a baby recently too.

I was struggling to picture them there - must be a mistake on zootierliste

I can't spot them so simply they are not there. No way such a facility could hae rear species or Iˇm having bad luck. (not saying you aren ot right, but the logic of your comment is ridiculous)

I think you are misunderstanding my post - my point was that I couldn't remember seeing either species at Linton so perhaps zootierliste is incorrect - this is backed up by Riziki who visits regularly.

Belfast has a good collection of six species

Red-bellied lemur
Crowned lemur
Verreaux's sifaka
Red-ruffed lemur

We have White-belted black-and-white ruffed lemur (Varecia variegata subcincta) aswell, which bring us up to 7! (+more planned :))

Plzen have a very impressive collection indeed!

*headdesk* I forgot them...:(

I'm I right in assuming that the zoo has more lemur species planned? :D
Oh....let speculation commence!

There is a special rarity in Plzen Zoo, Goodman's mouse lemur, they keep two pairs in off exhibit, this year they received this species from Uni Hannover (mayby Biefield), I am not sure about it.
