The last Mouflon sheep in England.

Surely he knew where the Ram went though? The story is only a few months old so it can't have been long ago he was moved.

Agreed Importation is expensive. Its ironic that you could use that Ram and he is now seemingly unvailable. But maybe you could still track him down as he seems the best bet purity-wise.

The Camperdown ewes look pure but rather old from the pictures but maybe there is a female or two still young enough to breed from. They have no male as far as we know.

The Camperdown ewes are indeed all very old now. I think I am also correct in saying that there have been problems with Yonies disease there. So the present hoofstock is never transferred.

Mouflon ram

Sorry to dig-up this old thread but I've become interested in the subject due to a recent event and came across this site .

To cut a long story short : a mouflon ram (almost the image of the one in the "Ram needs a mate "story ) appeared running loose in Sussex . Either it had been dumped or escaped

It may have been loose for some time or previously neglected as its horns had started to press into its cheeks .

It latched onto a hobby flock of badger-faced ewes but luckily could'nt reach them and was eventually trapped in an adjacent paddock .

Reluctantly on the part of the land-owners ,who did in the short time available try to find an alternative solution ,he had to be destroyed as he was not carrying ear tags .

Well that is most unfortunate!

I had forgotten about this thread but funnily enough I was at a market last week and there was an exotic meats stall and on the menu were Mouflon! I asked the man where all the different meat had come from. He told me mostly Africa via Holland but he said the Mouflon came from Scotland!
