Ah! Ok I get you. Do you actually like pies and deli stuff still, or are you sick of it because you see it/smell it all day?

Its fine as a job, but I very rarely buy food from there (I sample stuff to make sure its OK obviously ). Pies are OK, I like the curry pies and dessert pies best. I wouldn't say I get sick of it, we make lots of different stuff each day, but its not the sort of food you would really want to each too often.

The BP Wild Bean Cafes sell a Thai Chicken Pie I think, which isn't bad.

Not terribly spicy, I think its a barely medium, coconut-ish white sauce with bits of chicken in it. The Butter Chicken is spicier, but probably just a solid medium.

We also had a famous movie called "Goodbye Pork Pie" about a race in a mini from one end of the country to the other.

I confess I knew nothing of this Kiwi movie - but the title rings a whole load of bells for any jazz fan. 'Goodbye Pork Pie Hat' is Charles Mingus' tribute to Lester Young on his classic album 'Mingus Ah Um' of 1959. The great Lester Young played tenor in the original Basie band and on many of Billie Holliday's sessions; he often wore a pork pie hat. The tune is now a standard and I'm sure I own several versions of it - I commend the original and Carla Bley's big band version.

For first timers to the fish or 'Ocean Pie', here is a good recipe. I reckon making one yourself would be nicer than a bought one, I quite like making these occasionally. Fish pie recipes - BBC - Food

I have spent a short while living in France and they certainly don't do a savoury meat pie at all . However they do like quiches which I suppose is somewhat related to a pie. A cheese and ham quiche is pretty nice.
