The Meme Thread

I know giant pandas are kinda easy to dunk on, but they are honestly not really at all worth all the money and the diplomacy with China to get them. The money needed for giant pandas can be spent way better and with greater conservation effect on other species more endangered and in need of help than giant pandas.

But to get a little closer to memes again...

Not exactly a meme - but I thought it was rather appropriate for those people sick of seeing red/blue maps in the US right now. Found on Facebook ... map showing the legality of owning a kangaroo:

Kangaroo (and to a lesser extent, wallaby) escapees aren't too uncommon in Wisconsin, they usually end up making local headlines a few times a year. I fully expect them to become established at some point in the future.

Interestingly, this article appeared on our national news service today: Wild wallabies are on the run across Britain. So why is nobody paying them any attention?

When you think of kangaroos and wallabies, you probably don't think of the temperate climate, unsettled weather and agricultural lands of England. Yet on such pastures, the red-necked wallaby has found a home.

Red-necked wallabies have been present in Britain for more than a century, originally being imported for zoos and private collections where they were popular attractions.

However they also proved to be adept escape artists that were adaptable enough to survive in the British countryside.

I'm sure some rugby fan could come up with a meme about Wallabies in the UK :D

Weird, since my grandma knows someone who owns a kangaroo, among other exotic animals, like a zebra, bobcat, raptors, and more. He also has wedding doves, a horse, and an alpaca or llama.
