Belive it or not I heard someone call a sloth bear an anteater once.

Belive it or not I heard someone call a sloth bear an anteater once.

That mistake makes sense to me, they are quite hairy, eat termites and have large claws.

There is nothing wrong with calling three of those animals anteaters (namely pangolin = scaly anteater, echidna = spiny anteater, aardvark = Cape anteater). They used to be called that in the past and many people may remember that name rather than the more frequently used ones.
