I assume it wasn't suppose to represent where each animal actually live, but just north american animals in general with a map as background (like the river otter is in the ocean because they can't fit it on the map itself)
Even so, it doesn't excuse the animal errors - 'Pronhorn' is a springbok, 'Elk' is a red deer, the beaver and groundhog appear to have pictures switched around, 'Black-footed Ferret' is a regular domestic ferret ...

You looked at it, it got worse.
Also, the “bobcat” appears to be a Eurasian Lynx.

Even worse - the Groundhog isn't a groundhog. I'm not entirely sure what it is but it looks like one of the other marmots.
