Liz Bennett of the Wildlife Conservation Society has written an interesting editorial about the demonstrated need for effective wildlife patrols in order to stop wildlife poaching.

Are zoos doing enough to support wildlife patrols in the range countries of the species that they display? It seems like an area where a modest and sustained investment of resources can have a huge positive impact on species conservation.

Some facilities are really helping the effort for in-situ conservation and many of the bigger institutions sit on their hands and give it 'lip service'.
